Sofía Garza-Barba is an eclectic Latinx multidisciplinary writer and director who’s genre-bending work is often described as fantastic, kitsch, and highly art driven. Some of her clients include Nickelodeon, Paramount, Universal Orlando, Sony amongst others. Her films have been appreciated in festivals like Fantasia, Rotterdam, SITGES, GIFF, Tribeca and Festival de Cannes, and have been recognized or awarded for their unique voice with colorful visual language. She’s a Ryan Murphy’s Half Initiative mentee, a Fellow Director of the CDDP Diversity Program, HBO’s Tomorrow’s Filmmakers Today emerging director and a selected fellow for the LFI Inclusion Fellowship supported by NETFLIX. In 2024, her fantasy queer short film Peccadillo was nominated for an Imagen Award for best short. Sofia continues her path of telling stories that make people cry, laugh, scream or just simply feel alive.
